Athletes Across Different Sports Win In Style At SEA Games

After the high of eight gold medals on Day 2 of the SEA Games competition in Indonesia, Team Singapore continued their winning ways today (Day 3, 13 Nov), thanks to athletes from a wide range of sports.

Canoeing & Cuesports

Competing in Lake Cipule in Jakarta, the kayak pair of Stephenie Chen and Suzanne Seah clinched gold in the women’s K2 200m. In Palembang, two-time world champion Peter Gilchrist won gold in the English billiards singles after overcoming Thailand’s Praput Chaithanasakun.

Swimming

Over at the Jakabaring Aquatics Centre, Danny Yeo delivered gold in the men’s 200m free with a time of 1:51.07. The women’s 4x200m relay team of Koh Hui Yu, Mylene Ong, Tao Li and Amanda Lim ended the night on a high note, winning their event in 8:13.88.

Gymnastics

Competing in Palembang, gymnasts Foo En Ning, Rachel Giam, Krystal Khoo, Lim Heem Wei, Nur Atikah Nabilah Bte Muhammad Jufrie and Joey Tam also shone with gold in the women’s team event. Echoing the sentiments of her team mates, Joey, who shed tears of joy after the gold was confirmed, said, “The months of training were hard but I don’t regret (making all the sacrifices).”
