As the SEA Games canoeing competition wrapped up in Jakarta today (Nov 13), the Singapore team can well give themselves a pat on the back, with Stephanie Chen and Suzanne Seah winning gold to add to the one Geraldine Lee bagged on Saturday.

Narrow Miss

In all, the unheralded canoeists will bring home two golds, five silvers and three bronzes. For Stephanie and Suzanne, the gold, which came in the women’s K2 200m race, was all the sweeter as they had narrowly missed the K2 500m title on Saturday.

Silver Medals

Meanwhile, Geraldine, who clinched gold in the women’s K1 500m, won silver in the K1 200m. She also teamed up with Annabelle Ng, Andrea Chen and Wilona Lee to finish second in the K4 200m.

Final Push

Not to be outdone, the guys too played their part to give Team Singapore a final push. The duo of Brandon Ooi and Clarence Chua collected bronze in the men’s K2 200m.
